How to change the name of a feature in a map

If the map you want to use have feature names that don’t correspond with your data, for example, the map uses full names while you use abbreviations, then you need to edit the map so it recognizes the geographic features you have in your data and show them in DBxtra, for that, do as follows:

1.- Download and install the latest version QGIS.

2.- Open the QGIS Desktop application (you can do it from the Start Menu).

3.- On the Browser Panel (at the left) navigate to the shapefile you want to modify and add it to your project (double click it).

4.- Right click the map layer and select Open Attribute Table

5.- Click in Toggle Editing Mode to enable the edit mode.

6.- Change the atribute you want to modify.

7.- Once you’re done click on Save Edits.

8.- Click in Toggle Editing Mode to disable the edit mode then close the window and QGIS.

Note: The names in the map must match the names in your data, down to the case and punctuation, so please take that in consideration when you edit the map.
